Should cigarette-style warnings go on drink labels?

Should cigarette-style warnings go on drink labels?

Postby Administrator on Fri Feb 19, 2010 10:13 am

The Scottish Government is ready to impose cigarette-style health warnings on alcoholic drinks if manufacturers do not comply with a voluntary labelling agreement, Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon has revealed. According to the voluntary code, drinks should carry information on the number of units, a message about responsible drinking, a warning on drinking when pregnant, guidance on recommended NHS limits and a logo and link to Drinkaware, the Government's responsible drinking website. Should this be compulsory?

Nobody reads the labels. It's pointless.

Whether its pointless or not they should go on there. If you kids stop listening to you do you just give up or do you keep trying to guide them in the right way?

yeah i think they should do that. a little reminder wont hurt and if we keep reminding them, prolly it will have an impact in the long run

Those labels wont do any good. they just get ripped off the bottle when people drink from them. It will just be a waste.

Yes, I believe so. Even if nobody reads the warning, unconsciously it is communicated to the drinker and other people that drinking is hazardous to one's health.
