New - ServeWise online staff course
ServeWise and Quality Hospitality International have launched the ServeWise online staff course. The course meets the staff training requirements of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and is suitable for anyone who serves or sells alcohol. The course is overseen by a qualified ServeWise Trainer. It can be completed at your own pace and should take between 2 and 4 hours. Assessments are completed at the end of each section and the Record of Training is valid throughout Scotland. The course costs £35, with discounts available for employers buying 10 places or more.

Certificate for Staff working in Scottish Licensed Premises (On-licence)
This is for full and part-time staff who serve alcohol in the on-trade (pubs, clubs, hotels and restaurants).
- Half day training course with follow-up home study

- Delivered by Alcohol Focus Scotland licensed Trainers
- 30 question multiple choice assessment completed at the end of the training session, awarded by City & Guilds and accredited by Scottish Qualifications Authority for the purposes of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005
- The ServeWise/City & Guilds publication "Workbook for Staff of Licensed Premises" is issued to candidates on the course and is included in the price.

ServeWise Trainers Qualification
Trainers' Qualification leaflet
This is for people wishing to deliver ServeWise personal licence holder and staff training courses.
- 2 and a half day course with pre and post-course work as well as home study
- Delivered by Alcohol Focus Scotland licensed Trainers
- Course covers trainer skills, licensing law, associated laws, alcohol, people skills, formatting and delivery of the ServeWise Certificate for Staff working in Scottish Licensed Premises and ServeWise Certificate for Personal Licence Holders courses
- Assessed by written post-course work, awarded by Alcohol Focus Scotland. Mapped against the National Occupational Standards and accepted by City & Guilds as meeting the standards for delivery of training for the purposes of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005
- The ServeWise Trainer's Manual is issued to candidates on the course and is included in the price
- ServeWise Trainers must maintain their status by completing Annual Continuous Professional Development
- On completion of post-course work candidates recieve Qualified Trainer status. Trainers are expected to also undergo an observation of training, assessed against SVQ standards. Successful completion will confer Approved ServeWise Trainer status.
