Gendered Identities and Alcohol Consumption Among Young Adults: A Qualitative Study. Stipend £13,590 per annum
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a 1st or 2:1 degree in the social sciences or a related discipline to train in a leading research establishment.
The main research questions are:-
- How do young women and men in Scotland perceive (excessive) drinking?
- How are young adults' gendered identities related to, and constructed by, alcohol consumption?
The successful student will be supervised by Dr Carol Emslie and Dr Helen Sweeting. The MRC Social and Public Health Sciences Unit provides excellent support for students, is well resourced and has an impressive track record in studying the impact of social factors on health behaviours and illness.
