Spotlight on Services: Addictions Counselling Inverness Recovery Services

Thursday 12 November is Scotland’s first ever Alcohol Action Day. Together, we’re using the day to celebrate the organisations providing alcohol support across Scotland and to raise awareness that help is available for anyone who needs it.
In this Spotlight post, we feature Addictions Counselling Inverness (ACI) Recovery Services, who have been working for 40 years providing counselling support for people with addictions and their families in the Highlands and Islands.
Addictions Counselling Inverness Recovery Services was established in 1986.
We provide free, confidential and non-judgemental counselling support for people and their families struggling with addiction in the Highlands and Islands.
We provide purposely designed counselling rooms for face-to-face appointments in Inverness and Invergordon. We also offer virtual and phone counselling options.
We welcome self-referrals and referrals from professionals and partner agencies.
About us:
What is counselling?
Counselling is a type of talking therapy which allows people the space to discuss any difficulties they are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment. Our counsellors will encourage people to talk about what they are going through in order to uncover root causes, as well as thinking and behavioural patterns.
“Having someone acknowledge what I’ve been through and offering support has been life changing for me”
Recovery Coaching
Supporting individuals in recovery to build and maintain motivation, cope with urges, manage thoughts, behaviours and feelings and live a balanced lifestyle, Peer support is encouraged and attending recovery community events.
“I was able to open up and be honest about my drinking, instead of denying that I had a problem”
